Nature or nurture the age old question?
It’s Parenting week on BBC radio 2. The Jeremy Vine Show turns its attention to parenthood this week, with Radio 2's Guide to Parenting. Throughout the week, discussions will include: who creates troublesome teenagers, the teens themselves or bad parents? Is there anything wrong with so-called ''broken families''? Can a divorce help to bring people closer together? And who makes better parents, strict or liberal mums and dads?
These issues are present in everyday modern lives but are sometimes the hardest to approach. No one is given a rule book on parenting and no one can say that they have the perfect solution to all parenting problems. In that case how can we know if anyone is actually doing a good job? Quite simply looking at the results most would say but then again if you look at troublemsome teenagers and those who have behavioural problems is it really all down to nature or nurture.
This show is intending to cover these issues and it could prove to be very interesting. What are your views? Do you believe that how a child behaves is nature or nurture or a combination of both?
