One Born Every Minute

As the Baba Me team start to get pretty excited this week before the Mother and Baby show in London on Friday, we want to celebrate the entire experience of pregnancy, birthing and motherhood!

We have 14 tickets for the Mother and Baby show at London’s Excel to give away. All of our experiences of birth count, and whether you have had babies or are expecting any babies we want to hear the ups and the downs. Let’s just call it moral support!

Pregnancy and birth fascinates us women, not least as If you have been through it yourself. The amount of strength and courage that expectant mums exude in the labour stages is amazing, amazing, amazing. Last night some of the Baba Me team were deeply moved as we watched One Born every minute on the TV.

It just reminded each us so much of our own experiences of birth, which were all entirely individual and some that didn’t go according to plan! Pains, Pains, Pains, sore backs, bums and legs, partner’s comments, our feelings when our children arrived were just some of the things we talked about here in the office about mother-nature taking its course. We even had a few funny stories of getting to the hospital too!

BUT at the end of the day the determination, however hard, kept us all going to get there in the end. That mental strength spurred us on until we met our beautiful little bundles of life and love. With the amazing support from our partners and (fantastic) midwives we can collectively say “we did it!” and we at Baba Me want to hear all about it!

We're offering prizes of tickets to the Mother and Baby show this weekend at London’s Excel. We want to hear all of your comments and posts on your positive experiences of birth and beyond. This may be a thought provoking topic, or stories that you’ll recount with your kids when they are grown up. The winners will be announced over the next few days!

Good luck!

The Baba Me team!

I used hypnotherapy and wanted a home water birth the midwives didn't come out when we rung them keeping them informed espically when i was at the last point in time 1 minuet apart through contractions they said i couldn't be in later stage as i wasn't in enough pain and I would know if was in later stages...(was my first so didn't know of course lol) but anways had a BIG bleed and locked myself in my toilet as it felt like i needed the loo, my sister-in-law ran around from her house as my hubby phoned her saying i locked myself in toilet and she called ambulance as even though she had kids she didn't know if the blood was normal or not but got too hospital and they said my hubby would most likely need to go home as was prob early stages still. My midwife lay me on the bed to exmain me and informed me i was 10 cm and needed to push LOL so glad i had my hypno had a great experience and a lovely midwife who delivered my baby! next time i'll know my body just bleeds alot and can stay at home! :) Couldn't of asked for better birth as my little girl was born healthy and think everyone was great that day with me even if I did scare my sister-in-law LOL

Labour was simultaneously the most horrific, and the most incredible, experience of my life. I am awestruck at what I was able to achieve and I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. xx

I have 3 gorgeous children (3yrs, 2yrs and 7 months). All 3 pregnancies were identical including 'drinking' the same huge amounts of gaviscon=3 very hairy babies!!! However my labour experiences were very different. One water birth, one 2hour labour and one home birth, each unique in there own way and I think each child has taken on characteristics related to their delivery-sounds daft I know. Angus the water birth is a very caring, gentle, sensitive soul. Hamish the 2hour labour is a very head strong, independent toddler (nicknamed the tazmanian devil!!!) and our darling daughter Iona, the home birth already winds her brothers and daddy around her little finger and from a very early age was very settled into our family!

We are very blessed with 3 healthy happy children who now make our family complete. Each unique and very special. I won't change the sleepless nights, stress, worry or dirty nappies for anything!!!

I had 2 awful pregnancies but was very calm and open to imminent labour with both. very different births however. My first with Niamh (now 5) was pretty easy going, I used a TENS machine for the majority of my labour and quite enjoyed the support my partner and I gave each other. She was born just 10 later. Straun(now 1) was a different story, I was in labour most of the day and was pretty sore on and off. had forgotten to order TENS so was a bit more intense. when I finally went to the hospital I assumed I would be on a fair bit as it was pretty intense and 4 mins apart. i found I was only 3cm. But they didn't make me go home thankfully, I was in too much pain. finally Struan arrived after 15 hrs of much pain and a lot of effort!!!!
I'd through it all again tho in a flash

Well, I'm currently waiting for labour to begin and looking forward to it! I know it's going to hurt but it has been the hardest 9 months that my husband, 3 yr old daughter and I have had to endure. I have had hyperemisis ended up on a drip, low placenta, bleeding and SPD. My due date is tomorrow, which, is when I'm being induced. I'm hoping that I start naturally before then, but if not at least I know that baby will be here soon!

Hope you all have fun at the show!

I had 2 very different labours - my first was a 'textbook' 12 hours with tens and gas & air, whereas my second was a fast & furious 4 hours and felt a lot less controlled. I 'enjoyed' the first much more than the second and came home from the hospital saying I was never having another if it meant a labour like that! I also told all my family to remind me that I'd said that if I ever spoke of having more children. 12 weeks down the line and I'm already considering a third!!

Despite all the endless nights, dirty nappies, tears and tantrums, I love my girls and can't imagine life without them! :0)
