More free bumgenius nappies? You ARE MAD!

Well we are back! For those of you not in the know, we have just come back from the Baby Show. For those of you who went {about 23,000!}, you will know just how manic and busy it is.

We had three days of pure chaos. Its amazing how many people now WANT to use CLOTH NAPPIES! And not just from us, there were about 5 other cloth nappies sellers there and I was delighted to see that everyone of them were also flat out. Its a real pleasure to see just how far the industry has grown and how many more people are now interested in cloth.

The Baby Show is great fun, if not completely and utterly exhausting. My feet are aching, I can no longer talk {some people think this is brilliant!}, and I have been dreaming cloth nappy demos. I must have done the demo about 1000 times over the weekend, the waves of people coming on stand was crazy.

What makes the baby show so good for moms considering using reusable nappies is that they get to see all the different types of cloth nappies together. They get to touch and feel, compare and review all types of cloth nappies. So if you are newly pregnant, and considering cloth we would recommend popping to the Baby Show, the next one is in May in Birmingham and we will be there!

And for the very lucky few, they got some free cloth nappies. Yep, just to celebrate the 5 brilliant years of bumgenius cloth nappies, we were randomly giving them away free! Yep FREE bumGenius. YEP we are mad!

But lets carry on the fun and give some more free nappies away. Just tell us below, what would you like to see at a baby show (it does not have to be real nappies!) from our range.

I think that slings are a bit like real nappies - you need to touch, see, feel them to see how they work and if they would suit you and your baby.

hi
I would love to see the econobum in real life, reading about them they sound fab, but its not the same as seeing them.
I'm glad you had fun at the show,

Katie

Copies of breastfeeding books - the Baby Show is exactly the sort of place a mum-to-be would buy bits and bobs like books. Having a copy of The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding in her house could quite possibly help her in an hour of need. xx

I would like to see some of the clothing range you stock on display. Particularly pairs of 'shoo shoo' shoes...I think it's be great for new mums to feel how soft they are and check the size of these up close before buying for their little ones.

I think it would be fab to see some of the beautiful, beautiful wooden toys that you stock :D

I came and saw you at the Baby Show yesterday, it was fantastic!!

I saw everything I could have ever wanted there. So nothing needed for improvement for me- babylegs perhaps? at a push.

not quite what you asked but I'd like to see extended rear facing carseats (you so should sell some !), most people seem to be under the impression that you 'have' to turn your child forward facing once they reach the magical 9 months, when it is actually far safer to be kept rear facing as long as possible.

out of the stuff you do sell, i'd love to see all your lovely wooden toys - i couldn't resist a quick play :D

I love cloth nappies and slings, so would love to see them, Especially free ones! ;)

I didn't make it to the baby show this time round, but went to the last one, and also thought it was brill that so many parents and parents-to-be were interested in cloth. I would like to see your range of changing bags at the baby show, as I've found when buying changing bags for my cloth-bummed daughter, it's essential to see them first to check there's enough space in there and pockets for accessories :-)

I love the whole show to come to Devon. To see more boy prints. To be able to see/try/play with slings/wraps/carriers.

Definately baby-wearing gear, wraps and slings. I had a very uncomfortable sling with very skinny straps that hurt with my son, 5 years later I moved to a wrap with my daughter and the only use we get from her pushchair is when someone else wants a go of the baby. Something you need to try before you understand.

I would like to see one of everything please! *blush* Indecisive? ME?!
If I had to choose though I would say some of your funky changing bags. My slight addiction to nice handbags didn't go away when I had bubba - it simply transformed into a changing bag obsession! Shhhhh... don't tell hubby!

I'd like to see:

Someone selling funky , disabibility pushchsirs as the ones on the current Market are pants!!!!! My son is disabled. It's a nightmare!

I'd also like to see some 1950s inspired toys !

I'd also like to see information on independent midwives, as I've hired one this time as I've been so ill ( only leaving the house 6 times since July due to being so ill) and she's really looked after me well!

Not asking much am I ! Hope your all well !

Another thing I would like to try would be wool shorts/leggings.

Would love to see some more of the pretend play food and kitchen bits. and books too, have just spotted the cute bath books, we're always looking for new bath books, so those as well!

Hope to get to the NEC show again in May!

I would love to see more real wipes and accessories, like the solutions you can use and the different cubes. I like to smell scents before buying them and that goes for my babies wipes too. Also some BLW books! I struggle to find cook books, I love flicking through the pages first!

Hi,

I came and saw you on Saturday. You had a brilliant stand.

I would like to have seen some of your changing bags as the ones on your website are amazing and much better than the others I saw at the show.

I'd like to see more things for mums...like nursing bras, clothing etc. Baby shows tend to be mostly about the baby so would be good to come away with more for mummy too!

I would love to see reusable preast pads (not sure if you stock them) and breastfeeding books also. OOh and some lovely yummy wooden/knited toys :D

I'd love to see some gorgeous wetbag. They are nearly as addictive as fluff! X

I'd love to see slings and cloth nappies at the baby show! Next time I go I'll *hopefully* be shopping for a bump so would love to see the newborn options for nappies that you may have.

I would also like to see slings/babywearing stuffs because I don't think you can ever tell if you're going to get on with a particular product until you try your own child in it. Being shown how to use a sling/carrier is a whole different thing to watching a video on it and trying to figure it all out! I should imagine it's safer too...
Sarah Herrod said…
I did not get chance to come to the baby show.

But would love to see active demonstrations on how to use the bumgenius nappies and also the opportunity to discuss any issues i could have and how to rectify them.

I'm another one who'd say slings/wraps are great to see in real life, very difficult to visualise how they work until you play with them and then realise they are actually pretty simple!

I'd love to see affordable change bags in a range of colours suitable for both cloth nappies and twins!!! I can ony find twin ones online (since I don't have chance to venture out) but have no idea of their dimensions and ease of useage etc
Unknown said…
I'd like to see more cute clothes for boys- nobody has them (its all dungarees) you'd make a killing!

I would love to see a variety of slings, it would be great to try them, touch, etc before you commit to one or two.

I would like to see some more daddy oriented things! we went to the NEC last year (and will be this year) and there wasnt all that much geared towards daddies.. like 'manly' change bags and maybe some books on helping be the best support to mums and such ??
Hannah said…
I would like to see developmental toys with advice to help know what types of toys to use when. It's a little baffling to know what toys to encourage a child's development for a new mum!
Unknown said…
I would just love to view all your goodies closer to home, maybe Glasgow next time? Thanks x
Kate said…
hmm...I would just like to be able to make it to a baby show!

Cloth nappies and slings it would have to be for me...

I would like to see layettes that feature essentials, this day and age people market baby items as essential when they are really a waste of money and never get used, so a few different layettes, that people can touch and try out.
Katie said…
I would love to see more for boys, your wooden toys and lots more of you guys!!!

Hi! When I was there last October with baby Arthur, I REALLY wanted to try on some slings and carriers - and was gutted that the only one I could find was the (AWFUL) Baby Bjorn :0(
I did fall truly madly and deeply in love with the BG Artist series though, and had to buy them all!! New BG prints would be AMAZING to see... but a bit out of your control!

I would like to see some of your toy range for the older siblings that inevitably come along with parents to the baby show.
Rebecca Cox said…
I'd like to see babies IN your nappies, certainly if I was a mum-to-be. I think that would add to the cute factor so make you more sales, but also I think it would remove a lot of the fear of cloth nappies too. You could do demonstrations of putting them on, adjusting them and removing them too.

Firstly, how about doing a baby show in Dublin?? Sounds like soooo much fun! I would have been so glad to have had all the cloth nappy info to hand at a baby show when I started out on my cloth journey....But besides the wonderful Bumgenius nappies - I think displaying your range of trunki's would be really great!
Ruth said…
I think that slings would be great to see in person at a baby show, giving people a chance to see how great they are - I think a lot of people are put off buying thel online when they haven't been able to see them and try them on like the more 'conventional' carriers.
Penny Stevenson said…
i'd love to see the gorgeous hoppop bath and potty (and anything else in there range) that i fell in love with from your catalogue, now i just have to talk my husband round and i'll be able to see them every day!

How about some active demonstrations, the opertunity for a group of users of your products, particularly BGs to give their feedback at the Babyshow to potential consumers, bringing their babies along in their BGs. You could pick a small group with babies of different ages and sizes to show the fit, effectiveness ect
katheyip said…
Active demo is always good as both new cloth nappy users and experience users can always pick up more tips on how to use, care for as well as extend the life of the nappies they have.

Accessories are equally important to jazz up the nappies for fashion conscious mums.

What about washable wipes and solutions/drops, bags, etc and make it a one stop centre?

hi

I would love to see rear facing car seats especially the besafe izzi isofix. Reusable bamboo wipes and green baby organic products which are fab on my little boys skin with exzema. Swim nappies and hooded towels.

I bought my cloth at the Birmingham baby show last year at just 8 weeks pregnant. This year, now baby is here, I'll be super interested in trying out as many different wraps, slings and carriers as possible. Just like nappies, I think they're something you need to corrosive in person.

I agree Baby carriers and wraps are the sort of thing you need to touch, feel and 'try on' and would be ideal at a baby show. Also changing bags.... recently ordered one from another retailer which sounded great but in reality is massive.

I'd love to see more slings/carriers. There are so many types and styles available, all claiming to be the most comfortable for wearer and baby. I've just had my second child and have purchased 4 different types of carrier to find the one i like best. It would have been useful to compare them before hand. And a demo on Babywearing safety, especially after the infant deaths that may or may not have been linked to the improper use of certain types of baby carrier.

after buying one of your travel high chairs last week. i think these are fab and everyone should have one! small enough to pop in your change bag and take out and about, no more grotty high chairs when your out and about!!!

I think that slings/baby carriers are great to see in person, you need to try them on (preferably with a weighted doll) it's the same as with cloth you can't really get it til you've felt them and worked out how all the parts or different types work!

Hi,
For brand new mums to be, who may be expecting a boy, or who have a boy, it would be good to demo putting on the nappy - little boys need to have their bits pointing downwards and that wasn't something I was ever told until some way down the line!
....But Bumgenius is sure to inspire genius in every mum and ensure its an automatic part of the bumgenius real nappy experience!
