Parental time together

Spending time with your other half just to relax and enjoy eachothers company is very important especially when you first become parents. A lot of your love and attention will naturally be focused on your little bundle of joy and finding time to simply be a couple may be harder than you thought. Before you were a couple and now things have completely stanged, priorities are different and the dynamics of your relationship will need to be tweaked. Letting eachother know how much they are loved is very important.

"When I first had my son I found that he was all I could think and talk about, but I always loved it when my husband would make dinner or run me a bath. It always reminded me just how much I love him, and I loved to surprise him with a note in his lunch box. We always found small ways to let eachother know how much they meant to us"

When you have a baby you are physically and mentally drained from lack of sleep and all the added responsibilities. It can be hard to find time to work on your relationship as both of you are equally as tired, but, when you put your little one down for the night try having a romantic meal together to maintain that spark of romance or a cuddle on the sofa to watch your f
avourite programme together.

When women become pregnant there are a lot of physical changes to their bodies to try to cope with, suddenly they gain weight and feel less attractive. Once the baby is born the shape of their bodies could take quite a while to get back to itself and with it going through so much they can find themselves less interested in intimacy and more self-conscious. Making an effort to tell your wife or girlfriend that she is beautiful and helping to rebuild her self-esteem is vitally important to help rebuild an intimate relationship. I needed to feel that my other half fancied me again before I felt comfortable enough in myself to be intimate.

Sex after the baby is born can be difficult. Some women find it painful and if they try too soon it can put them off for quite a while talk to your GP or midwife about when you are physically able and trust your instincts. Some women heal quicker than others. Try to make it as romantic as possible the more relaxed you are the better it will be.

Keeping your relationship strong is very important not only for the two of you but when you are happy your baby is happy too. If you have any suggestions on how to keep your relationship strong and make time to be together please let us know.
