Games to play with your little one

With such fabulous weather today everyone at Baba Me HQ couldn't resist chatting about all the games they love to play with their children especially during the glorious sunshine.

Playing games with your child is a great way to develop motor skills and hand eye co-ordination. It is also a brilliant way to simply have fun. All babies love to get lots of attention and the more fun they have with you the more you will develop your special bond.

Most of the team here at Baba Me love any game that makes them giggle, but the most popular game to play with new-borns is the classic peek-A-boo.

Other games that were mentioned included:

Music! Singing and dancing with children of all ages is great fun and can be done in the house on the bus with the favourite wheels on the bus, and of course outside in the sunshine. As your little one gets older try getting them to imitate you as you do the actions to the songs.

Tummy time; is a brilliant activity that helps little babies to develop the strength in their necks and helps them learn to crawl. Lie them on a blanket flat on their tummy whilst you watch and gradually build up the time as they develop the strength in their arms and neck. Try using a blanket that is specificall meant to develop their visual activity such as this brilliant Black and White Playmat.

Bouncing your baby on your knee whilst supporting them under the arm helps them to improve their balance but it makes them laugh and giggle so much that it is a joy to watch.

As they get older encouraging them to play with stacking toys and musical instruments is a fantastic way to develop their motor skills and cognitive ability. There is an abundance of toys available that help to develop our childrens imaginations, and beleive it or not its the simplist ones that are best. Try sitting your baby on the floor with a few wooden blocks and watch them play. Soon they will have built a magical city in their heads where anything is possible.

The most important thing to remember is to have fun and enjoy the time you spend with your baby.
