Through both of my pregnancies I picked up tips on how to make yourself feel lovely and offer your changing body the support it deserves. Through my own experiences I have found that a proper fitting bra is a must have item for both pregnancy and nursing.

I have learned there are several reasons for this, it is essential all throughout pregnancy to provide comfort, support and really importantly not to affect your milk duct development. Fortunately there is an added bonus ladies as the right bra can also help prevent sagging breasts!

Our Hotmilk guru Craig came in-store for training recently, I lapped it up with plenty of questions to keep him going. A few key points I picked up;

1. Get yourself fitted at about 4 months of pregnancy and again at about 8-9 months {some brands have specialist fitting hooks that may last from 4 months right through until you have finished breastfeeding, so check before you purchase}

2. If you are buying Nursing bras specifically at the e
nd of pregnancy these should be bought 2-4 weeks before the EDD

3. The size of a nursing bra is determined as 1 size up the current cup size and one size down the current bust-line. This accommodates for the milk-swollen breasts and the shrunken abdomen after giving birth.

4. Make sure that the nursing bra is in a simple design rather than a fancy, netted design.

5. Go for netted or lacy designs only if they have a cotton lining underneath. It can be really painful when tender nipples get entangled in the net/lace. Try our HOTMILK and CAKE They are extremely comfortable and trendy.

6. It may be useful to buy sleeping bras if your breasts are tender and need support at night or use a fitted nightie for feeding time.
