NEWS FLASH! Product Recall: Infantino SlingRider

Infantino - manufacturer of baby carriers, toys and more - yesterday announced a product recall and free replacement scheme for their popular product: SlingRider.

Concern
The action comes in response to concerns raised across the USA & Canada about the possible risk of suffocation from the Infantino SlingRider and Wendy Bellissimo slings.
The U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) yesterday stated that they are aware of three reported deaths last year caused in Infantino SlingRider and Wendy Bellissimo slings.
There has not been any official reports stating that the Infantino SlingRider and Wendy Bellissimo slings are the direct cause of any deaths.

Corrective Action
Infantino urges consumers to immediately stop using the recalled product and to contact their office for a free replacement product.  The product recall and the free replacement scheme is being undertaken by Infantino in the UK, US & Canada, and some European countries.

In an official statement made yesterday (24th March 2010) by Infantino, President Jack Vresics stated:

"Safety is our number one concern and today's announcement of a free replacement program reflects this commitment...
As an industry leader, Infantino has also been working closely with CPSC and other agencies, as well as the international agency ASTM to develop safety standards for baby slings to ensure that these products are safe and that they are used appropriately."
